N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police and Fire Committee and Public Works Committee met Thursday evening to discuss several items.
During the Police & Fire Committee, Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger requested that the department use forfeiture funds from a drug bust to purchase suppressors for their rifle range.
The cost of adding suppressors for all the departments rifles would total to around $11,670 and would be useable on future rifles for the department. The council approved.
Public Works
Frontier Village Association President Nellie Degen brought up the current condition of the roadway and retaining wall at the Frontier Village.
Degen has been working with Travis Dillman of Interstate Engineering, who would not be able to move forward without approval from the council on finding asolution to the issue.
City Administrator Jeff Fuchs reported that the wall was installed several years ago without the permission of the city, yet the city of Jamestown owns the road. City Water Superintendent Steve Suko says a pipe in that area was a major concern.
Funding will be discussed once a cost is known for the project. The council approved Interstate Engineering to move forward with inspecting the project.
One of the final big issues discussed was a request from the North Dakot aSoybean Processors for the City to accept their plant processed wastewater at the Jamestown Wastewater Treatment facility. Mayor Andersen reported that the City already accepts wastewater from Spiritwood.
Mayor Andersen stated that some engineering costs may be included in finding more date for the wastewater. The committee will wait to receive more data which will be discussed at the April City Council meeting.
