CITY (NewsDakota.com) One of the most exciting “Wings & Wheels Airshow” is coming to Valley City in September.

The main aerobatic act is with 3rd generation pilot Matt Younkin and his “Beech 18” aircraft performing maneuvers never thought possible with such a large transport plane. Part of the performance will be a show called “Magic by Moonlight” after dark with the noisiest and smokiest plane lit up like a Christmas tree.

Other pilots to perform include; Jim “FANG” Maroney in his Dehavilland Super Chipmunk, Rex Hammarback with his T-28 warbird military trainer and Toby McPherson in his P-51 Mustang. The show is set for Saturday, September 8.

Air Show Co-Directors Lori Jury & Toby McPherson say, “The Wings & Wheels Air Show will be a huge event for Barnes County and the community of Valley City. We anticipate a crowd of 3,500 who will be treated to first class, world-renowned aerobatic talent performing in the local blue skies over central Barnes County. Many volunteers and friends of aviation will be needed to help in a variety of ways to ensure the success of the Air Show. We are excited to bring this family friendly event to the Barnes County Airport on north of Valley City on Saturday, September 8.”

In addition to the Air Show, the Bridge City Cruisers will host a classic car show and shine at the airport. Other events like an evening dinner, dance, fireworks and Sunday morning all faiths worship service and pancake breakfast are planned.
