N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  For the first time since 1985, the Ellendale Cardinals are off to the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament after defeating the Carrington Cardinals in the Championship game 53-40.  Ellendale improves to 20-5, Carrington ends their season at 19-5.

Senior and four-year starter Brennan Vance for Ellendale poured in 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.  He hit five 3-pointers and was six of seven at the free throw line.  Senior Luke Wertz added 14 points and eight rebounds.  Ellendale shot 54% from the field, Carrington shot only 26%.  Leading the way for Carrington was Senior Bryce Edland with 10 and Junior Garrett Bickett with 10 as well.  It was also the first time since 1999 that Ellendale had advanced to a Region championship game as well.  

The Ellendale Cardinals will advance to Minot next week Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 16-18, for the State Class B Boys Tourney.  The selection show will happen on Saturday night on the ABC networks in between the championship games of the State Class A Tourney.    

Linton/HMB 68 Napoleon/GS 55 (third place game)

For the second time in the tournament, both Senior Cole Vanderlaan and Junior Lance Weiser had double doubles for the Lions.  Vanderlaan had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Weiser had 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Leading the way for the Imperials was Senior Bryce Fettig with 19 points, including five 3-pointers.  The Lions end their season at 21-3, the Imperials end at 11-12.
