David Lee Schuler was born on June 7, 1963 in Valley City, ND, the son of Vernon and Linda (Broten) Schuler. Dave grew up and attended grade school in Valley City and later moved to Wahpeton, ND, where he graduated from Wahpeton High School, Class of 1981.
After graduation, he ventured to New York and lived in Long Island for nearly two decades. Dave decided he’d had enough of the big city life and returned to ND to be with family and help out on his grandparents’ farm, three miles west of Dazey (Olaf and Helen Broten’s farm).
David later moved to Cooperstown, ND, where he found a home with some nice land so he could have a garden of his own. Dave loved to bowl and spend time with family at the lake. He always had a fishing pole in hand.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. He served on the church council and helped with the worship media team. Dave truly loved his church. He was also a member of the Cooperstown Ambulance Service.
Dave is survived by his father, Vernon of Sun City, AZ; sister, Lorie (Tony) Reed of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Steven (Linda) Schuler of Phoenix, AZ; and his grandmother, Josephine Hagglund of Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Schuler and grandparents, Olaf and Helen Broten.
Lerud-Schuldt-Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City will be assisting David’s family with arrangements. An online guestbook and tribute page have been set up for him at www.lerudschuldt.com.
