N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council will need to meet with Ralph Friebel and his attorney to discuss minor changes to the proposed contract before it’s approved.

During the regular city council meeting, primary discussion took place regarding the contract between the city of Jamestown and Renaissance Recycling. Mayor Katie Andersen reported that some contract changes had been proposed by Friebel on Friday that needed to be addressed.

Friebel approached the council, asking how much longer would be needed to approve the contract. Mayor Andersen pointed out that it would the council and City Attorney until Wednesday this week. City Attorney Leo Ryan said one of the provisions he was concerned with was the length of contract.

Jamestown Chamber Executive Director Becky Thatcher-Keller has been advocating and working with the City Beautification Committee since the contracts were discussed. She said that she and the community were concerned about postponing the contract once again and that more transparency was needed from the council.

Joan Morris with the City Beautification Committee stated that she was concerned with contracts as well, citing that she and the committee needed to be ready to provide community education for recycling.

The City Council is set to tentatively meet Wednesday at 4:30 PM at the Jamestown City Hall to meeting with Ralph Friebel and discuss the requested provisions, which include length of contract and trash overflow in the recycling.
