CITY (NewsDakota.com)- Sheyenne came to town and took 2 games from Valley City High School Friday night. The Mustangs had a strong 2nd half to come away with a 73-62 win in the girls’ contest. A big run propelled the boys to a 90-64 victory. The Hi-Liners take a trip to West Fargo Tuesday night to face The Packers, pregame on KOVC begins around 5:30.

Still looking for their 1st home win of the year, Valley City fell to The Mustangs 73-62. The lead changed hands several times in the 1st half and was tied for the 3rd and final time 34-34 at the period break. Sheyenne grabbed the lead for good in the early minutes of the 2nd half but Valley City kept it close and brought an 11 deficit down to 59-51 with 5:26 to go. The Mustangs’ Maggie Manson rattled off back to back 3 pointers to keep the game out of reach as her team maintained a double figure lead the rest of the game.
Manson paced all scorers with 25 points, Kierra Freih scored 18 and Yashmina Dokara 14. Taryn Dieterle scored 10 to lead Valley City, Jadyn Dieterle and Mackenzie Pederson each added 9 and Reagan Ingstad 8.
BBB WF Sheyenne 90 VCHS 64
The Mustangs used two big runs to defeat The Hi-Liners 90-64. Valley City and Sheyenne were tied at 21 with just under 6:30 reaming in the opening half. A 22-8 run from The Mustangs brought the score to 43-29 at halftime. Sheyenne went on another run top start the game’s final 18 minutes and Valley City would get no closer than 15 the rest of the night.
Levi Nix scored a game high 24, Nate Rodriguez had 18 and Matt Lyter 8. Sheyenne had 14 points from Collin Trottier, Josh Thiele added 12 and Dawson Anderson 10.
