(NewsDakota.com) In their last chance at a regular season victory against a Class B District 5 opponent, the Oakes High School girls basketball team was able to defeat Midkota 66-27.
The Tornadoes (8-9, 1-5 Class B District 5) had a 15-1 lead after the first quarter, and limited the Mustangs (3-14, 0-6) to just nine points in the first half.
Oakes had a team high 18 points from Sadie Hansen, while Midkota was led by Jakenda Short with eight points. The Tornadoes will be the #6 seed in the upcoming District 5 tournament and face #3 Barnes County North, while Midkota as the #7 seed will meet #2 Edgeley-Kulm/Montpelier in the opening round on February 10 at the Jamestown Civic Center.
