N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls basketball team picked up win number 13 on the year without a loss downing E-K-M 56-48. The visiting Rebels didn’t make it easy early, leading 13-8 over the Cardinals after the first quarter. Carrington would put together 2 strong middle quarters, outscoring EKM 38-17, and led by as many as 19 points in the third quarter.

Maara Nelson had a game high 21 points to lead the Cardinal scoring attack and also added 3 assists and a team high 3 steals. Haley Hewitt connected for 11 points, added a game high 7 assists, and added a pair of steals. Jill Endres added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Emerson Hoornaert had a team high 5 rebounds, added 2 assists, and 2 steals. Abigail Jarrett also added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Katie Entzi led the way for the Rebels, scoring a game high 21 points with Nelson, and added 8 rebounds for the Rebels. Katelyn Schiele added 8 points for the Rebels. EKM turned the ball over 21 times, Carrington also turned the ball over 18 times in the contest.

Carrington improves to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in District play. EKM drops to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in District 5 play. The Cards will be back in action Tuesday night in Lamoure for another key District 5 game versus the Loboes. Carrington can secure the top seed in the upcoming district tourney with a win.
