D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Deputy Colt Allery of Rolette County lost his life after a shootout with a wanted suspect late Wednesday evening. The suspect in the incident was also killed.
Senators Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven, along with Representative Kevin Cramer, have all released statements offering their condolences to the loss of an officer in North Dakota.
“Deputy Colt Allery dedicated his life to law enforcement and protecting and serving North Dakotans as a uniformed officer for several different agencies – and we are deeply indebted to him and to his family for his bravery, service, and sacrifice,” said Senator Heitkamp. “I send my most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family, his friends, his fellow peace officers, and his entire community in Rolette County. North Dakota’s peace officers are the finest in the nation, and Deputy Allery’s bravery in the line of duty exemplifies that commitment to community and our great state. His memory will live on through family and friends he touched, and through a community he so faithfully served.”

This young man had a full life ahead of him and he sacrificed it to protect the citizens of North Dakota,” said Cramer. “He leaves a grieving family and an entire state deprived of a peace officer and hero. I ask all North Dakotans to show their appreciation today to our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.“
The incident remains under investigation by the BCI.
