CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City officials are moving forward to start the process of holding a special election to fill vacant city commission seat after Rick Ross tendered his resignation earlier this month.

Valley City Mayor Dave Carlsrud said the city will hold a special election later this year to get the position filled.

Carlsrud said the commission decided to hold a special election instead of appointing someone to fill out the remaining term of Ross who was elected in June of 2016. He said more details about the process will be released in the next few days.
