N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown School District has formed a Citizens Advisory Committee that is dedicated to better understanding the future plans of the district and the schools.

The committee was formed following the failed referendum to decommission Washington Elementary School, when the vote failed by 31 votes. Superintendent Rob Lech reports that there are three areas the committee focuses on; Education, facilities, and community support.

Lech reports that the committee is comprised of numerous individuals and is open to anyone.

The committee is currently finishing up comprehensive tours of schools in the district. Lech reports that these tours help not only the board and committee, but also the community in finding areas of improvement that are not often thought of.

Lech reports that the committee will be further discussing the 10 year plan in detail now that tours of the school’s have taken place. He says the future plans include decommissioning Washington Elementary and adjusting the district map.
