(NewsDakota.com)- On New Year’s Eve Weekend The Valley City Express Wrestling program had individuals as well as a team take part in The Rumble on The Red at The Fargodome . 

 

 

Team Results

Express wrestling placed fifth in their group on Friday, January 30th, in the team dual competition at the rumble on the red tournament in Fargo.

The team began their day with a 62 -12 defeat at the hands of an all-star team from Minnesota as Broden Muske and Koltyn Grebel had pins to produce Express’s only scoring.  Express rallied back to beat North Dakota’s top team in the past several years, Mat PAC out of Bismarck with an ending score of 42-36.  This was the first victory over the Mat PAC in Express Wrestling’s history. 

Finally, Express beat The legends of Gold from South Dakota 45-30 to capture fifth place.  Individually leading the Express Wrestling team were Broden Muske and Koltyn Grebel who were both 3-0 with 2 pins each.  Tyson Hovland and Ethan Langemo were both 2-1 with 1 pin each.   Boeden Greenly was 2-1.  Koye Grebel secured a pin.  Also picking up wins were: Ethan Miller, Will Schwehr, and Alex Rogelstad.

Individual Results

On New Year’s Eve, nine members from the Express Wrestling club entered the individual portion of the Rumble on the Red Youth individual wrestling tournament.

Express came away with their first ever individual champion Christian Beutler who won the 127+ pound 10 yrs and under division.  Christian won by decision and then by a pin before beating Kayden Parson of Bemidji by fall in 3:18.

Will Schwehr placed third in the 10U, 127 lb division.  Will opened with a pin then lost to the eventual Champion. He pinned his last two opponents including CI Weinberger of Bismarck for third place in 2:12.

Participating in the 12U, 150lb division and placing fifth was Ethan Langemo.  Ethan also started his tournament with a pin then lost to the eventual champion.  He defeated Brady Schubitzke of North Shore by fall in 0:33.

Koltyn Grebel entered the 10U, 65 lb division, a 46 man bracket, and the largest in the tournament.  Koltyn competed in eight matches winning 6 and defeated Zander Nielsen of Sioux Falls, SD for fifth place.

Also competing in the tournament from Express Wrestling were: JT Poe, Koye Grebel, Ethan Miller, James Schwehr and Michael Beutler.
