N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Department of Transportation and the Highway Patrol are requesting that landowners not push snow into right-of ways and ditches on state highways. These drifts can create obstructions for motorists.
State law prohibits a person from obstructing, or causing to be obstructed, any public highway or right-of-way.
Meanwhile, the Barnes County Commission voted unanimously to ask residents not to place snow or ice on or within county or township right-of-way.
According to a Barnes County news release, snow placed by residents that has to be removed by the county or township, will be done at the expense of the landowner.
