N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation announced how close they are to creating a cancer care center for the surrounding area.

The Cancer Care Center has been something the JRMC has been working towards for 85 years according to JRMC Foundation Director Lisa Jackson.

During a presentation to the public on the Oncology Center, Jackson, CEO and President K.C. DeBoer and Thrivent Financial members explained their work with the center. DeBoer stated that they currently provide chemotherapy sessions, but are still looking for an Oncologist for the hospital.

The $1.5 million project will begin construction once an oncologist is found.

DeBoer reported that once an Oncologist is hired on, it will take them approximately 120 days to fully construct the new cancer care center. According to the staff, the new center will provide more than 800 chemotherapy

infusions to more than 100 local individuals a year. This will eliminate 160,000 miles of travel and 2,400 hours on the road every year.
