(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown volleyball team was upset by Union (Ky.) on Thursday morning which sent Pool C at the national tournament to a three-way tie at 1-2. The Jimmies along with Union and Missouri Baptist played a late night tiebreak to decide which team was advancing to the Round of 16.

It was the Spartans of Missouri Baptist that were the last team standing at 11:30pm at the Tyson Event Center.

Jamestown played Union in a one-set playoff and rolled past the Bulldogs, 25-16. That set up another one-set playoff against Missouri Baptist, a team the Jimmies beat 3-2 on Tuesday. The Spartans got a bye out of that first tiebreak by winning a set against No. 3 Hastings.

Missouri Baptist got out to an early lead (5-1) and then Jimmies were able to settle in. They eventually took the lead and pulled out to a 22-18 advantage. However, the Spartans scored seven of the final eight points to win 25-23.
