(VCSUVikings.com)- Rashad Satahoo and Austin Dunbar combined for 51 points Friday night as the Valley City State men’s basketball team finished strong in an 86-72 win over Emmaus Bible College.
After trailing by as many as 10 points in the first half and four at halftime, the Vikings outscored Emmaus 41-23 in the second half for their fifth victory of the season. Tied 61-61, VCSU finished the game with a 25-12 run over the final nine minutes.
Valley City State improves to 5-4 overall. VCSU will wrap up its trip to Chicago on Saturday by taking on Moody Bible Institute at 3 p.m.
Satahoo and Dunbar led the Vikings with a strong 1-2 offensive punch Friday night. Satahoo poured in 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds. He went 10-for-22 from the field and was 6-for-16 on 3-pointers.
Dunbar posted his third double-double of the season with 25 points and 16 rebounds. He shot 10-for-18 from the field and pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Jayden Ferguson added 13 points and four rebounds, and Chase Carpenteradded 11 points off the bench on 4-for-6 shooting.
VCSU had 22 assists in the game, including seven from Alex Quist and five by Jason Ralph.
The Vikings shot 51 percent from the field (35-69), 38 percent on 3’s (9-24) and 78 percent at the line (7-9).
Emmaus was 11-for-23 from 3-point range in the first half as the Eagles built a 49-45 lead at the break. The Eagles finished the game 42 percent on 3’s (15-36), 41 percent overall (27-66) and 60 percent at the line (3-5).
VCSU held a 42-26 edge on the glass, including a 13-7 edge in offensive rebounds. The Vikings committed just eight fouls and nine turnovers in the game.
