Miller, age 53, of Valley City, ND, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer surrounded by her closest family and friends on November 16th, 2016 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22nd at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Tuesday morning, all at Epworth United Methodist Church.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday evening at the church.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City, ND.

Debra Kaye Bartz was born in Valley City, North Dakota to Ralph and Evelyn Bartz on June 5th, 1963. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1981.  She married Scott Miller on June 29th, 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City. The couple was blessed with four loving children; Sarah, Matthew, Melissa, and Mark. She was the best grandma to Sophia and Kallen.  Debbie dedicated her life to helping others in the many jobs she held. Debbie worked in Dietary at Sheyenne Care Center, helped bring many babies into the world as a Nursery Tech in OB at Mercy Hospital, and co-owned and operated the Barnes County Ambulance. Debbie was also extremely involved in her community, being a DJ and board member for the Teen Center, Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals volunteer and board member, and board member and volunteer for Sheyenne Valley Soap Box Derby. Debbie was one of the “Basket Ladies” at Epworth United Methodist Church Bazaar, board member and volunteer for the VCHS Music Booster Club and Hi-Liner Booster Club, and loved her wrestling family. Debbie had a special love for her dogs and all animals. Debbie’s happiness was making other people happy and was a mother to many. She fought a hard and courageous battle against breast cancer.

Debra is survived by her husband, Scott Miller; children, Sarah (Trevar) Hansen, Matthew (Sarah) Miller, Melissa Miller, and Mark Miller; grandchildren, Sophia and Kallen Hansen; sister Nancy Bartz, all of Valley City, North Dakota; brother Charles (Deborah) Bartz, Wimbledon; dogs, Reese, Tori, and Diesel; many grand-puppies, and other family and loved ones.

Debra was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Bartz, and mother, Evelyn Bartz.
