(NewsDakota.com) The 2016 North Dakota Class A Region I Football Champions lead the way with the most all-region representatives, as voted on by the region’s coaches.
The Jags had seniors Nick Nelson, Brandt Bohmert, Andrew Jones, Brendon Salander and Austin Myogeto named all-region along with junior Matt Wika. Senior AJ Bring, juniors Isaiah Aaseby and Marcus Jensen and sophomore Wrigley Elston were named to the honorable mention list.
The Class A State Champion Thunder of Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm had five all-region selections: seniors Luke Wertz, Westen Ellingson and Brennen Vance in addition to juniors Clayton Grueneich and Nathan Peterson. Honorable mention selections were seniors Hunter White and Taylen Walks and juniors Lane Hanson and Jake Dewald.
Carrington netted four players to the all-region squad; seniors Bradee Schroeder and Braxton Hewitt and sophomores Drew Page and Kaden Wolsky. Juniors Garrett Bicket and Hayden Schmitz were named honorable mentions.
From Milnor-North Sargent, seniors Jacob Hanson and Drew Asche were selected in addition to sophomore Adam Neustel. Seniors Adam Sakry and Blake Nelson, junior Jarrod Wiest and sophomore TJ Johnson made the honorable mention list.
Fargo Oak Grove was represented on the all-region team with seniors Ben Hoggarth and Bryce Bakkengard. Honorable mentions went to seniors Jackson Adams, Devon Foster and Jimmy Slagle.
Oakes senior Chris Schmit was selected to the all-region team, with junior Tyler Voightman and sophomore Coy Awender added to the honorable mention list.
The Class A Region I Outstanding Senior Athlete of The Year was Jacob Hanson from Milnor-North Sargent, and Craig Lachowizter of Northern Cass was picked as the Region I Coach of The Year.
