CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Public School District is working to achieve goals to improve the learning and teaching environment in all of their schools.

Superintendent Josh Johnson touched on three of those goals during a school board meeting. Meanwhile, the school board is in the middle of a book study called “Transforming School Culture: How to Overcome Staff Division” Johnson said the goal is to enhance the relationship with everyone in the school district. One question focuses on, what are the most important characteristics of a positive school culture?

Johnson talked about a recent inspection of the buildings in the school district.

He addressed the importance of parent/teacher conference attendance.

Johnson also talked about the upcoming staff professional development day and the focus of the presentation by a Safe & Civil Schools speaker.

In other news, the school board recognized students Maggie Oberlander and Abby Slyter for their great performance in the Student Congress competition.

And the board also issued its first Staff Recognition Award to Head Custodian Mary St. Denis during their regular meeting on November 14th.
