CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) The VCSU Foundation Office named Tom Glandt as the first recipient of its “Difference Maker Award” for his long-term volunteer efforts on behalf of VCSU. Glandt was recognized at a brief ceremony at Dacotah Bank in Valley City on November 9th.

The Difference Maker Award was adopted by the VCSU Foundation Office to recognize friends of the university who have made significant contributions to the university through dedicated service, promotion, financial support or other efforts.

“Tom has gone above and  beyond year after year, giving of his time, talent, and treasure for the betterment of Valley City State University,” said Larry Robinson, executive director of the VCSU Foundation. “He is most deserving of this award because he has clearly been ‘Making A Difference’ at VCSU. We are most appreciative of Tom for his efforts. He makes us proud.”

Kim Hesch, assistant director of the VCSU Foundation and director of alumni relations, noted, “Tom has also  been a major player in the success we have enjoyed with our annual spring Scholarship Auction. He has been a leader in that effort for nearly 10 years. During that time period, our proceeds have more than doubled.”

Glandt is a financial advisor with Investment Centers of America at Dacotah Bank. His wife, Tara, also a VCSU volunteer, teaches fourth grade at Washington Elementary in Valley City. The couple has three children.

“VCSU is so fortunate to have well over 100 volunteers giving of their time in a host of different ways,” added Robinson. “They have  been a big part of our family. The success we have enjoyed over the years is no accident. Our volunteers have been there with us every step of the way. We are forever grateful to them for their commitment to VCSU.”
