(JimmieAthletics.com) – The Jimmie volleyball team bid farewell to the Hansen Center on Tuesday night with a sweep of Dakota State (S.D.) in the quarterfinals of the North Star Athletic Association conference volleyball tournament. Set scores were 25-16, 25-17, 25-19. 

Jamestown, the number 3 seed in the tournament, will face Bellevue (Neb.) in one of two semifinal matches on Friday in La Crosse, Wis. The semifinals and championship are being hosted by Viterbo University.

Once again the Jimmie offense was spread out among the hitters. Seven players recorded four or more kills. Siri Jystad (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) had a team-high nine kills while Kaitlin Anderson (SR/Grand Forks, N.D.) and Heather Bachman (SR/Bloomington, Minn.) added eight. Haley Glasoe (JR/Wildrose, N.D.) and Madison Wendel (JR/Carrington, N.D.) chipped in with six. Morgan Hensch (JR/Fergus Falls, Minn.) and Jessica Velander (JR/St. Michael, Minn.) finished with five and four, respectively.

Aubrey Beaumont (SR/Great Falls, Mont.) (22) and Josie Hegerle (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) (19) both reached double-figure assist totals.

Whitney King (JR/Pierre, S.D.), Kori Buchanan (SO/Colfax, Wis.), Nicole Warren (SR/Oakes, N.D.), and Elise Peterson (SR/Kasson, Minn.) had strong nights at the service line. King had five aces and was 17-for-18 serving, while Buchanan had three aces in 16 perfect attempts. Warren was 14-for-14 and Peterson finished 10-for-10 with one ace. 

Warren led the defensive charge with 14 digs, and the Jimmie blockers had a busy night as well. Wendel finished with four blocks, while Anderson and Jystad had three. Glasoe had one block, setting a new UJ single-season record with 172.

Clarissa Blick led Dakota State with nine kills. Tessa Weeldreyer added eight and Carly Rozell seven. Kaylee Vander Wal passed out a team-high 14 assists. 

Defensively, Chelsey Davis had 12 digs and Rozell two blocks.

The Jimmies outhit the Trojans .261-.179 and outdug them 39-31. 

UJ improves to 24-11 whle Dakota State finishes at 12-21.
