LaMoure def. Linton-HMB 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-14)
The defending State Champions picked up yet another sweep, this time taking down the Lions to advance to Tuesday play.
Once again, the Loboes were lead by Anna Holen with 12 kills, two blocks and 15 digs. Jackie Mieklejohn lead LaMoure in assists (31) and blocks (three).
The Lions had a team high nine kills from Heidi Jacob to go along with two aces. Payton Holzer picked up 20 assists.
Oakes def. Medina/Pingree-Buchanan 3-1 (27-29, 25-23, 27-25, 25-20)
In arguably the best match of the day, both teams battled beyond the traditional 25 points needed for victory in the first set. MPB had a chance to take a 2-1 series lead, but had the wrong server with a possible game point on the line; thus awarding the point to Oakes. The Tornadoes won the set, and never looked back.
Oakes’ Shelby Roney had 19 kills and Sadie Hansen had 52 assists in the victory. Nicole Schmitz had a team high three aces.
The Thunder had a team high 19 kills from Halle Uehran. She also lead her team in blocks (six) and aces (four).
Tuesday’s regional semifinals start at 6 p.m. with South Border facing Carrington. 25 minutes later, it will be LaMoure and Oakes. Coverage on TED-FM 98.3/102.7 and NewsDakota.com starts around 5:45, with the Oakes match on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM.
