CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The first phase of permanent flood protection for Valley City was completed earlier this year and now city officials are getting ready for the second phase.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph talked about the buyout process and the time table of the next phase of construction that will focus on protecting Main Street and an important piece of city infrastructure during our Voice of the Valley program with Steve Urness on October 31st.

Earlier this month, the Valley City commission approved of the preliminary design for engineering on the second phase for a cost of $930,000. The engineering cost share ratio is 85/15 split with the state water commission picking up the lion share and the city covering 15 percent.

Bids for the second phase are tentatively set to be let in early 2017 with construction to begin later in 2017.
