Coach’s Comments
We had a very tight match. We even had 2 state-qualifying match points at 6-5 in the third set. In the third set tie-breaker, we were up 4-2 before losing five of the next six points. We couldn’t have been any closer.
With that loss, Valley City finished its season. We will have no participants at the state tournament this year.
Looking at how close we were in the regional team qualifier and the doubles state qualifier, we are close to turning a corner. As we don’t graduate anyone this year, we are looking forward to next season. Several of the players are committed to play in the offseason and getting better. It was a fantastic season hilighted by the most regular season victories in many years and players that are coachable and excellent sports.
