ND (NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Valley City ended a 2 game losing skid on the road with 42-22 win over Stanley/Powers Lake Friday during Blue Jays homecoming. The Hi-Liners came from behind twice,scoring the final 3 touchdowns of the night to secure their 4th win of the season.
Fourteen points were scored within a minute of each other in the 1st quarter.Juan Gille picked up his 2nd touchdown of the year on a 6 yard run giving The Hi-Liners a 6-0 advantage. The lead was short lived,Tate Enget broke free for a 45 yard run that set up a Wyatt Hanson TD.Hanson then connected with Brown for the 2 point conversion.The opening quarter would end with Stanley/Powers Lake up 8-6.
Hanson found Ryan Nesheim at the 9 minute mark of the 2nd period from 8 yards out to push The Jays lead to 14-6.Seth Hanson scored on the ensuring kick off on a 65 yard return.The 2 point attempt failed for Valley City.The Hi-Liners retook the lead on Gille’s 2nd score of the night and were up 20-14 at half time.
Tate Enget put The Blue Jays back on top early in the 3rd quarter but Valley City answered back in a big way. Levi Nix,Eli Allen and Matt Brandvold scored the next 3 touchdowns to close out the ball game.
Allen was the game’s lead rusher with 139 yards,he also added an interception. Gille collected 118 yards on 18 carries.Nix passes 51 yards on 2 completions. Justin Manson had a 44 yard catch along with 3 interceptions all coming in the 1st half.Stanley/Powers Lake’s Tate Enget rushed for 124 yards.
The 4-2 Hi-Liners will play their final home game of the season Friday hosting Central Dakota.
