N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In June this year, the Jamestown City Council passed a resolution to name the bridge crossing the James River at First Street West the “James A. (Jim) Carlascio Memorial Bridge.”
On Friday, October 7th, a memorial and dedication will be held at the bridge.
John Grabinger stated that it was his idea to name the bridge after Carlascio and with the help of Duane Heinrich and Councilman Dan Buchanan, the resolution to name it was developed.
Carlascio was a National Elks Veteran in 1993, Jamestown Outstanding Citizen in 2008, and the North Dakota Hometown Hero Award in 2009. He was also a soldier in WWII and participated in a significant assault that occurred on June 6th, 1944.
Councilman Dan Buchanan pointed out in June that he was close to Carlascio.
The ceremony will start at 1 PM and the Master of Ceremonies will be Duane Heinrich.
