SD (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football hit the road for the NSAA opener against the prolific Dakota State offense. The Trojans came in ranked in the top-10 in total offense with individuals ranked in the top-two in passing, receiving, and rushing. Dakota State picked up a 36-17 win.

Jamestown was able to bottle up the nation’s leading rusher, Rob Johnson, but couldn’t slow the Trojans through the air. Dakota State jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first eight minutes with two touchdown passes from Jacob Giles.

The Jimmies settled in and scored the next nine points to close the halftime deficit to 13-9. Grant Linde kicked a field goal and then Keldrick Sullivan pierced the goal line for his eighth rushing score of the year.

On the second play of the second half, Ty Myron fumbled and that lead to another Dakota State score. Giles hooked up with Austin Opdahl for the second time. The Trojans put the game out of reach a few possessions later when a ball deflected off Josh Verghis’ hands and Alvin Reels raced 55-yards for a defensive score.

Jamestown has the week off before returning to Rollie Greeno Field after nearly a month away to play Presentation at 1pm on October 8th.
