(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown baseball team play their final fall home game on Wednesday night against and took care of Valley City State 15-2 using four home runs to pace the offense.
Vince Sablan got it started in the first inning, following an error on VCSU third baseman Nate Bagby that extended the inning, by crushing the next pitch over the scoreboard in center field. That home run put the Jimmies up 3-0, they got one other run as a direct result of that error.
VCSU got two back in the fourth inning and trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the fifth. Jamestown exploded for seven runs highlighted by a Quinn Irey grand slam and capped by a Kory Wolden two-run shot.
Pete Pennylegion hit his first home run as a Jimmie in the sixth to finish the scoring.
Jamestown is now 4-0 in fall ball and will head to Mayville State and Winnipeg to play their final games of the fall season. The dugouts at Jack Brown Stadium are getting ripped out and new ones will be installed for the spring.
