CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Cass County Electric Cooperative is a member of the Rural Development Finance Corporation. As a result, communities in their service area are eligible to apply for a grant of up to ,000 for community-based projects.

RDFC is making these funds available in order that more people become aware of their larger loan program that funds community based projects and non-profit entities with low interest loans.

RDFC has recently awarded two grants totaling $1,500 in Cass County.  One is a $500 grant to the Kindred Area Ambulance Service, located in Kindred, ND. The grant funds will be used to purchase two portable radio repeaters so that ambulance members can better communicate when they are away from the ambulance vehicle and indoors while responding to emergency calls that require them to go into buildings.

The other RDFC grant is for $1,000 to the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation, in Valley City, ND.  The Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation was established to receive, manage, and distribute gifts made to the Foundation for charitable religious, educational, scientific or literary purposes. You can accomplish your charitable giving goals through a contribution to the Foundation.

The Foundation is dedicated to the improvement and long term viability of the Sheyenne River Valley Area, included Barnes, Griggs and Ransom Counties.

The grant funds will be used to assist non-profits in the greater Sheyenne River Valley region to grow endowment and make their respective organizations sustainable, as well as provide opportunities to donors to make tax deductible contributions to viable non-profit service and community organizations.
