(NewsDakota.com) If there is one team in North Dakota Class A Football that has a solid opportunity to take down the two time defending State Champions from Park River Fordville Lakin, it may just be a team within their own region.
The #2 ranked Polar Bears of Larimore improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 39-14 victory on the road Friday night against the Oakes Tornadoes.
Larimore scored the first 39 unanswered, which included a couple of Jacob Tupa touchdown throws to Caleb Hofer, and a pair of Monty Hendrickson scoring runs.
The Tornadoes scored with under 15 seconds left in the half via a 50 yard touchdown throw from Coy Awender to Tyler Voightman. Awender scored the lone touchdown in the second half for either team with a five yard run midway through the fourth quarter.
Oakes (0-2) has yet another trying test next Friday night when they head to Harvey to face #5 Harvey/Wells County. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com commences on the 9th at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m in Harvey.
