WASHINGTON, D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Congressman Kevin Cramer announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women has awarded the North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services (CAWS) a Rural Program Grant.
The $300,000 grant will help CAWS focus on rural domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking assistance programs in Ramsey, Benson, Walsh, Cavalier and Griggs Counties.
Rural Program Grant funds are used to support programs that identify, assess and appropriately respond to child, youth and adult victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in rural communities by encouraging collaboration among victim service providers, law enforcement, prosecutors and courts.
CAWS is the state domestic violence and sexual assault coalition for North Dakota.
