Coaches Comments

Riley and Hunter started very slow in their doubles match.  Both picked it up a bit and then really turned it on in their singles matches.  North Knewtson is an All-State caliber player and Hunter was in every point and game.  Riley turned around after that doubles match and won his singles match in straight sets only dropping three games.  We now need to figure out how to get that level of play from them both in the doubles arena.

Collin and Zach both have great games we see pieces of brilliance from them both in singles and doubles.  Its a few points here, a few strokes there.  We need to find a way to make it stretches of brilliance instead of pieces!

Hale and Josh are figuring on the court how to win points – when to lob, go down the line, block it back, or go big.  We aren’t the most consistent yet, but they are doing what they are coached to do and continually improving.

In singles, Liam is adding variety to his game.  He is coming to the net a little more which is leading to easy points.  Liam is another player where more consistency would get him to the next level.

Jack Ingstad played his first varsity match of his career today.  He is green, but willing to work and to take coaching.

JV had another good day of matches. Nearly everyone played 3 sets over the course of the entire match, so there was lots tennis and I got to see where we as a team need more improvement.

As the day went on into the later matches, Blake Triebold really stepped up and was fighting to get to every ball that he could and hit it back over just one more time.

Noah Haglund and John Lahlum both are proving that they deserve to be some of the top JV players with their attitudes and the amount of effort they put in.

Although the final score states that we went 6-11 for the day, I can proudly say that most of those sets that we ended up losing were very close games either ending in 30-40 or 40-40. That alone says that we are competitive and have what it takes to win more matches with more practice.

Overall, the JV has been continually improving each day and I am very proud of the effort that each player has been giving.
