CITY,ND (NEWSDAKOTA.COM)-Valley City State senior Jaycee George has been named to the North Star Athletic Association Volleyball Preseason Team, the conference office announced Tuesday.
A senior libero from Innisfail, Alberta, George was named 2nd Team All Conference last season after recording 564 digs and 31 service aces. She is one of three seniors on this year’s VCSU squad. The Vikings will play a pair of scrimmages in August before officially opening the season Sept. 2-3 at the Corn Palace Classic in Mitchell, S.D.
VCSU is picked to finished 7th in the NSAA Preaseason Coaches’ Poll.
Bellevue (Neb.) recorded five athletes on the 2016 North Star Athletic Association Volleyball Preseason Team, announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Preseason favorite Viterbo (Wis.) and Jamestown (N.D.) each had four recipients on the 17-member preseason team. Dakota State (S.D.) has two athletes on the list, while Valley City State (N.D.) and Dickinson State (N.D.) each recorded one recipient on the preseason team.
The 2016 volleyball season kicks off on Wednesday as Viterbo travels to California to take on Hope International (Calif.) before playing four matches in the Biola (Calif.) Summer Slam Friday and Saturday. The conference season gets underway on Sept. 13 with Valley City State hosting Dakota State.
