CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Larissa Musgrave is the new Barnes County Community Service Officer after the commission unanimously approved of her appointment to the position on August 16th.

The Barnes County Community Service Committee Board president Wanda Auka says the office will remain in the Valley City police department.

Musgrave was hired after former Community Service Officer Dave Swenson resigned from the position earlier this year.

Musgrave will be paid $16 an hour at the Community Service Officer. She is also employed with the Open Door Center in Valley City.

Here are some of the duties of the Barnes County Community Service Officer position in Valley City listed below:

Assess and Supervise Offenders, Interview offenders, Assess offenders’ risk to community,
Evaluate and assign offenders to appropriate work sites base on offenders’ skills, obligations and capabilities.

Monitor offender compliance at work sites. Identify and solve problems related to work sites and offender performance. Enforce conditions as set by the court and/or the parole/probation officer. Resolve transportation, work rules and other issues with offenders.

Monitor and assist with the collection. Maintain Caseload Records and Computer Data Program for Offenders, Ensure that intake and all other required forms are completed in accordance with policy and procedures.

Submit accurate, timely reports to designated Community Service Board member(s)
Report offender compliance to parole/probation officer and courts. Prepare and conduct presentations regarding community service program information to various organizations.

Attend and participate in required Board meetings. Prepare and present annual budget to Community Service Board.

Account for income and expenses of Program. Seek and apply for grants that support the Program.

Attend meetings and training sessions with the North Dakota Community Service Corrections Association.
