N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Six teams started the day and only three teams remain in the 2016 American Legion Class B State Baseball Tourney held at Carrington City Park. There were four games played, below are the results.
Park River 2 Thompson 1
Hazen 11 Gardner 0, 6 innings
Kindred 5 Park River 4, 9 innings
Lead-off man Nick Zink for Kindred Post 117 knocked in Nick Mathias on an RBI single in the top of the ninth to take the lead 5-4 over Park River. Brandon Roesler, working his fourth inning of relief, allowed just a single in the bottom of the ninth to help secure the victory for the Vikings and end Park River’s season. PR Post 147 ends their season with an overall record of 29-14.
Hazen 7 Carrington 3
Carrington Post 25 suffered their first loss of the tourney in the last game Saturday. Starting Pitcher Alex Stusynski worked just two and a third, giving up six runs, three hits and five walks and took the loss, Brady Smith worked four and two-thirds allowing just one run and two hits. The winning pitcher was Chase Bruner, working five innings, allowing three runs and nine hits. Connor Doll worked two innings in relief. Smith was 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles. Mason Faut was 1-for-3 at the plate with a three run home run in the six-run third inning for Hazen Post 189.
The fourth and final day will be Sunday, July 31st starting at 2pm. AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will start pregame coverage about 1:45pm.
