CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) A proposal to create a centralized school for the Maple Valley School District in Tower City will be voted on in September.

Under the plan, residents will vote up or down on a $14.3 million dollar bond issue to help pay for an addition to the existing structure in Tower City.

Maple Valley Schools Superintendent Brian Wolf says an election will be held Tuesday, September 20. He says there will be two questions for voters. The first question will ask to approve the $14.3 million building project. The second is to allow the school district to raise the debt limit from 5% to 10%.

In April of 2015, voters narrowly defeated the school bond issue in a special election. Back then the measure was two votes shy of passing with 59.60 percent in favor. Under state law, 60 percent or more is needed to pass.

800 ballots were cast in the April of 2015 special election compared to 574 votes in the January of 2015 special election. Below is the new building proposal and architectural drawings of the plan. Just click the icon Maple Valley Project.
