N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – There is presently a vacant seat on the Oakes City Council.

In the election earlier this month to fill three seats, Kevin Ford, Tim Salberg and write-in candidate Larry Engel were all elected. However, at a Tuesday meeting, Salberg announced his resignation from the Council due to relocation.

Those interested in filling Salberg’s seat have until Wednesday, July 13 to submit his or her name, and a special election would be called if there is more than one candidate. After July 13, Mayor Monty Zimmer can appoint someone to the seat if there are no submitted names within the two-week time period.

Those interested in the Council seat are asked to contact City Hall at 742-2137.
