N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Game & Fish Department has their annual spring breeding duck survey numbers in from May.

Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier stated that the annual survey is held to find out how many ducks have nested in North Dakota.

Survey results showed that all species numbers decreased from last year. Migratory Game Bird Supervisor Mike Szymanski says the spring migration was well ahead of normal as open fields and warm temperatures allowed early migration in North Dakota.

Leier stated that the state numbers are heading in the wrong direction, but that North Dakota was still doing well as far as total numbers.

Leier and Szymanski pointed out that the July brood survey will provide a better idea of duck production and there is still a lot of potential for good production this year.
