CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The pulse of the community is positive in Valley City according a recent survey completed by Telos Associates, a Fargo based research company.
The vast majority of respondents of a recent survey indicated that overall, people are positive about Valley City with a 74.4% thumbs up. Effective and cost efficient government focused on several key areas with at least 62% of respondents saying “Yes” to all areas surveyed.
Specific areas identified as effective and cost efficient include operations (62% Yes), infrastructure (62% Yes), permanent flood protection (67.8% Yes) and the importance of the City Administrator position to operating the City of Valley City and Public Works (61.6%). When asked about public response, respondents held an equal opinion (43%) or were undecided (14%).
Groups engaged in promoting and building the community also received positive responses. Both the Valley City-Barnes County Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce were rated as being effective (61% and 68.6% respectively) in improving the business community and promoting it through events, activities and amenities.
The respondents said the Wellness Center is a good addition to the community with (51% Yes or approval) and those undecided at (18.6%). Quality of Life was deemed to be improving with 65% agreeing.
Alison Kasowski, Chair of the IDEAS Group, said, “The survey is an effective tool to gauge the public’s perspective of the city’s key topics, and we plan to use the information to help direct our focus on how we can continue to improve morale and communication.”
Kasowski says the survey offers valid information about how the public feels so that various groups can capitalize on community strengths and work to make improvements.
The survey was completed in cooperation with Telos Associates, a Fargo based research company, and is within the representative statistical margin (5%).
