LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board and North Dakota Water Education Foundation will tour the Devils Lake region on Wednesday, June 15th.
The tour will show inundated farm land in Eastern Ramsey and Northwester Nelson counties to allow participants to view one possible solution in the Michigan Spillway project.
A release states that the $4.6 million project has been 20 years in the making and is designed to remove excess surface water from the McHugh Slough drainage area in Nelson County.
Participants will also visit the Tolna Coulee control structure and the East Devils Lake outlet, which is designed to prevent the lake form reaching a spill-over elevation. The public is invited to join the tour at $20 per person. This includes transportation, informational materials, meals, refreshments, and a one-year subscription to North Dakota Water magazine.
The tour ends and begins in Devils Lake. Visit www.ndwater.com or call 701-223-8332.
