After a walk to Jayden Rosenau, Trey Rosenau (2-2 and a walk)lined a base hit to right field scoring Lyman, and the hustling Jayden Rosenau also scored after the throw in from the outfield was misplayed giving the Cards a 7-0 lead at the end of 3 innings. PRFL would score in the top of the 4th inning after a leadoff single from Jackson Hankey and stolen base put him on 2nd base, Hankey moved to 3rd base on a groundout and scored on a Damen Flaten groundout.

Cardinal starting pitcher Jayden Shipman picked up the victory on the mound, going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (1 earned), 3 hits, striking out 2, walking 3, and hitting 1 batter. The Cardinals finished up the 2016 season with a 22-2 overall record and advanced to the state tournament for the 4th time in the past 5 years. Carrington will lose 3 seniors (Connor Wendel, Alex Stusynski, and Brett Lyman), and with plenty of good underclassmen coming up, the future is very bright for the next several years.
