N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Andrew Sadek’s parents along with their attorneys sent notice Tuesday to the Richland County Sheriff Office and Deputy Sheriff Jason Weber that they will be filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
This comes weeks after the family asked the Minnesota BCA to step aside and allow the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) to take over the investigation into what happened to the NDSCS student turned criminal informant.
The lawsuit has not been filed yet. The Sadeks’ Attorney, Lance Block says they are still trying to figure out who else is involved to add to them to the lawsuit. Block says the BCA is refusing to step aside and they are waiting to hear if the FBI and DOJ will take over the case.
“We are not dismayed they (FBI and DOJ) haven’t taken over the case yet, it takes time and people need to be consulted,” said Block.
Block adds that Deputy Sheriff Weber was the person that recruited Andrew to be a criminal informant.
Andrew Sadek’s body was pulled from the Red River near Breckenridge, Minnesota almost two years ago. He had a gun shot to his head and a backpack of rocks tied to him. He was working as an informant for a southeast North Dakota drug task force, SEMCA.
The Sadek family says they want answers and their son’s death investigation is going nowhere.
