N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County participated in the simulated state-wide tornado exercise Wednesday morning as part of Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week.

Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist says that the exercise began at 11:15 AM with a test tornado warning. County operations were tested as well, including siren system activation in Medina, Buchanan, Cleveland and Streeter. Bergquist pointed out that all sirens are activated from Jamestown via remote control.

The test was conducted successfully on Wednesday. Bergquist reports that the siren at Lakeside Marina near Jamestown malfunctioned. Efforts are underway to repair the siren for ready use.

In addition, All Hazard Radio Systems were activated along with local radio stations and cable TV providers using their Emergency Alert Systems.
