(AP) – President Barack Obama and Congress are back
where they were a month ago, locked in an election-season tussle
over a proposed 1,700-mile oil pipeline that carries crude from
Canada to Texas. Republicans are trying to force Obama to make a
politically risky decision, while the president wants to delay it
until after the November elections. Obama temporarily blocked the
$7 billion Keystone XL pipeline yesterday.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – After record-breaking warmth earlier
this season, North Dakotans are bundling up as dangerous cold
weather settles over the state. Temperatures early this morning
dropped into the double digits below zero and wind chills were even
lower.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Grand Forks investigators are still
trying to figure out what caused yesterday’s fire at a high school.
Nearly 1,200 students had to be evacuated when the fire broke out
on the roof of a theater addition that’s under construction.
Firefighters say they had the blaze under control in half an hour
and there was no danger to the main school building.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – South Dakota farmers are now the nation’s

record-keeping for both states began in 1977. But last year’s
flooding and wet weather caused production to fall to 766 million
pounds. South Dakota farmers produced 777 million pounds.
