(NewsDakota.com) A great many changes are occurring at the Oakes Armory.
City Hall is in the process of moving from their present location across the street to the Armory, with offices closed Friday and Monday to complete the move. At their most recent meeting, the Oakes City Council voted to hire Enterprise Sales Company to replace the Armory’s existing roof for $96,000; the cost of which will be paid out of the general maintenance funds. Contingency funding from street improvement will be used to replace the sidewalk area.
The Council also approved changing rental amounts for use of the armory. All non-government entities will be charged a rental fee for use; requests to reduce or waive amount can be requested. Deposits will be $100 for the gymnasium and $50 for the meeting room.
Rental amounts will remain at $40 per day for the gymnasium, an additional $10 to add the use of kitchen and $25 per day for only the meeting room and kitchen. Large events, such as wedding receptions, will be charged $300 for the use of the building from Friday to Sunday with a $300 deposit.
A one-day permit for alcohol use will be granted, provided the renter is 21 years and attendance must be limited to 25 people. If more than 25 are in attendance, the police department must be contacted to provide security at an additional cost.
