N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Former Foster County States Attorney Paul Murphy has announced his intentions to run for the position he previously resigned from in January of this year.

The Foster County Commission reported that they asked Murphy to resign, with Chairman Josh Dreher stating that the county had received “inaccurate and unreliable legal advice” from Murphy during his time. Murphy stated that he decided to resign due to a number of professional and personal reasons.

Murphy pointed out that after he resigned, he was approached by numerous individuals in the community, including law enforcement and former defendants, that wanted him to return to the position.

In a release, Murphy states that the other individuals running for the three open county commission seats are “honest, conscientious and courageous members of Foster County.” Murphy pointed out that the number of those running shows the strength of the county and how they feel about the future of the commission.

Murphy said that his decision to run is based off the fact that he does not want to see the county fail.
