N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals Varsity Baseball team was in action again on Friday at the all-turf Dwyer Field at Bismarck Shiloh Christian School. Carrington is now 2-1 on the young year, picking up a victory over Harvey/Wells County 8-2 and dropping to Bismarck Shiloh Christian 14-4 in six innings, losing by 10-run rule.

Freshman Kyle Leapaldt of Carrington started his first varsity game on Friday afternoon and picked up his first varsity victory, throwing four innings with eight strikeouts, allowed two runs, one earned and just two walks. Fellow classmate Lucas Geiszler worked in relief for three innings, allowing no runs and two strikeouts. Geiszler at the plate was 1-for-2, with two walks, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Senior Parker Bachmeier was the losing pitcher working three innings, allowing three runs, two earned and four strikeouts. Harvey/Wells County drops to 0-1.
Bismarck Shiloh Christian 14 Carrington 4, six innings
Senior Dawson Fagerland was the winning pitcher and also was 2-for-3 at the plate, including a walk-off, two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to help the Skyhawks hand the Cardinals their first loss of the season. Braxton Hewitt took the loss for Carrington, working one inning and giving up four runs. Brett Lyman worked five innings in relief for Carrington.
Next up for Carrington will be Monday, April 11th, as they open up Region III play on the road against Medina/Pingree/Buchanan in Medina. Pregame coverage will start about 3:45pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com, first pitch at 4pm.
