N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Career Experts at Zippa have studied North Dakota to find the happiest cities in the state.

The organization analyzed 12 cities in North Dakota to determines what communities are the “happiest”. The website reports that where individuals live and the job they have play a big part in the overall sense of contentment and happiness. The study focused on seven criteria to assemble their list. The include: population with at least a bachelor’s degree, unemployment rate, traffic, cost of living, family size, home ownership and poverty rate.

Valley City nears the top of their list as the second happiest city in the state. The study found that with a population of 6,636 and over 50% of individuals that fully own their home, it reaches the top of the list. Jamestown was seventh on the list with 56% of people that own their homes and 44.8% of the population being married. West Fargo topped the list at number one and Dickinson rounds out the top 3.
