S.D. – Valley City State (N.D.) swept the North Star Athletic Association Softball weekly honors, the third edition was announced Monday by the conference office. Cejay Hilhorst was selected as its Player-of-the-Week, while Morgan Nalley was named to its Pitcher-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Softball Player-of-the-Week
Cejay Hilhorst – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’7″ – Senior – Third Baseman – Killarney, Manitoba, Canada – Hilhorst had a strong weekend at the plate as she helped Valley City State (N.D.) to a four-game series sweep at Presentation (S.D.). She recorded a batting average of .545 with five runs, two home runs and six runs batted in (RBIs) in the four-game series. Hilhorst also had a 1.182 slugging percentage for the week and swiped one base.
North Star Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week
Morgan Nalley – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’10” – Junior – Pitcher – Pocatello, Idaho – Nalley posted a 2-0 record this past weekend as Valley City State (N.D.) swept a four-game series at Presentation (S.D.). Her best performance came on Saturday when she pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 11 PC’s batters, walking none and allowing just five hits. For the week, Nalley pitched in two games and earned both victories. She posted a 1.62 earned run average (ERA) and struck out 15 Saints’ batters in 13 innings of work.
