N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department spent part of their Easter Sunday tending to a grass fire 12 miles Northwest of Jamestown.

The department was called around 12:30 PM to 28th Street and 76th Avenue where property owners had the fire under control when crews arrived. The fire has burned approximately one acre of land.

The fire was caused by an ember from a burn pit that quickly ignited the dry vegetation in the area. Some trees, a fence, and a Dakota Valley and Northern Plains electric Co-op utility pole were burned.

According to Carrington Fire Chief Ken Wagen, a different fire 10 miles Northeast of Carrington also burned roughly an acre of land.
